Job Purpose:

Focus on the promotion, prevention, and restoration of health within the context of a safe and healthy work environment. Collaborate with the Occupational Nurse Manager, employees, administration, community partners, and members of the occupational health and safety teams to deliver a holistic, multi-disciplinary, safe, quality and comprehensive occupational health and wellness program.

Essential Duties:

Assessing work and non-work-related injury, illness, or exposure, and generating appropriate documentation, evaluation, treatment interventions, case management, care planning, and reporting.

Communicating to appropriate individual(s) the needs and situations of Employee(s) that impact work ability and productivity.

Maintaining electronic medical records in a comprehensive, chronological, and confidential manner.

Embodying and fostering collaboration, communication, and cooperation with all employees to ensure integration of medical expertise.

Maintaining quality assessment/planning notes on employee(s) reporting to the medical office.

Abiding by strict confidentiality of health information related to illness and injury for both work-related and non-work-related health issues.

Providing quality patient counseling and health education related to work and non-work-related illness and injury health topics.

Performing testing and maintaining schedule efficiency for Occupational Health Programs (ie. Hearing Conservation, Respirator, Lead, Vision testing, and drug screening).

Participating in routine equipment checks whether daily, weekly, monthly, or annual.

Maintaining medical supply inventory and restocking supplies.

Supporting and following occupational health and environmental standards of practice, and upholding mandates that govern employee health and safety.

Supporting a clean and well-organized medical office.

Engaging and employing the WorkCare model for work related injury/illness. Utilizing the Workcare telehealth system when indicated.

Providing focus and directing emergent and non-emergent medical incidents.

Supporting Environmental Health & Safety training as requested.

Foster and promote the growing occupational health and wellness needs of Smith & Wesson.

Experience, Competencies and Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.

3-5 years of nursing experience in the area of occupational health, and/or emergency/medical/surgical nursing.

Able to work independently

Excellent clinical nursing and critical thinking skills

Dedication to quality patient care, outcomes, and customer satisfaction

Excellent collaboration and communication skills, both written and oral

Well-developed organizational skills

Proven ability to provide focus and direction during an emergency event

Proven ability to follow policies, standard protocols and procedures, verbal, written directions

Language Skills:

Must have strong command of the English language, both verbal and written communications.

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Office 365 Applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point

Electronic Medical Record utilization

Incident Reporting Management System

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Current BLS certification

Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Hire.

Current certification in Occupational Health Nursing or willing to meet criteria for certification

Training Requirements:

Complete all necessary training as required by assigned department and position, ex CAOHC certification

Maintain a current knowledge base of evidence-based practice pertaining to occupational health

Participate in all company training requirements.

Participate in continuous improvement projects as needed (Kaizen events, 5S, etc).

Physical Demands:

Occasional: bending, carrying, pushing/pulling, kneeling, squatting, standing, walking, reaching, sitting, overhead reaching, fine/gross motor movements.

Maximum Lifting: To 30 pounds.

Frequent Lifting: 5 to 20 pounds.

Occasional Lifting: 20 to 30 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this may include surgical mask, safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.

Attire per Company dress code policy in addition to closed toe and closed back shoes.

All employees are required to apply ergonomic principles to all job tasks.

This position is considered safety sensitive to the organization and requires mandatory involvement in the random drug screening program.

Work Environment:

Medical Department setting and various care settings within the factory.

Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting.
