Why this job matters:
Work in collaboration with the pharmacists to create a positive member experience, assisting the pharmacist by performing duties that do not require a pharmacist's professional judgement.
What you will do:
- Perform telephonic outreach to MTM eligible members educating them on the value of the MTM benefit and scheduling a comprehensive medication review with a local BCBSRI pharmacist.
- Conduct medication reconciliation to ensure the pharmacist has an accurate and up to date medication list for review.
- Verify the provider and pharmacy information for accuracy.
- Follow up with members at the direction of the pharmacist for disease state management and adherence monitoring.
- Triage internal requests to perform comprehensive medication reviews to available pharmacists.
- Respond to inquiries regarding Medication Therapy Management program.
- Facilitate correspondence between BCBSRI pharmacists and providers.
- Perform research on members who were unable to be contacted due to inaccurate contact information.
- Ensure that members who do not wish to participate in the program are properly documented and dis-enrolled.
- Participate in member education seminars, educating members on the importance of having an annual comprehensive medication review.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
- High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician in the State of Rhode Island.
- Two to four years of experience as a pharmacy technician or related healthcare field.
- Knowledge of health insurance and benefits
- Must be detail oriented and able to accurately document all activities performed
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel
- Able to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Must be able to work independently
- Professionally interact with external healthcare professionals and BCBSRI internal staff
- Must be able to travel within State of Rhode Island
- Effectively communicate the importance of a comprehensive medication review to members
Extras:
- Experience working with OutcomesMTM platform
- Experience with Medicare Part D MTM program
- Ability to speak a second language with command of healthcare terminology, most notably Spanish or Portuguese

BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:
- In-office: onsite 5 days per week
- Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
