Join our critical Platform and Reliability Engineering team!

The Platform and Reliability Engineering team is responsible for defining, measuring, and optimizing the key performance indicators of our web and media customers. Working with engineering teams, we solve complex escalations as well as provide scalable solutions.

Collaborate with others to build the best solutions for customers

As a Principal Site Reliability Engineer, you will influence a wide array of teams through technical depth and breadth while enjoying a significant influence over front line teams in decision making. You will help account teams win their customer confidence by providing feedback to improve products and platform performance.

As a Principal Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Working on a range of technologies to improve performance, availability and scalability
  • Identifying potential problems to and creating scalable solutions to ensure continuous improvements to quality of service
  • Working with Engineering teams to specify feature sets aimed at improving performance, facilitating measurement, monitoring, and benchmarking
  • Using data analysis, network diagnostics and debugging tools to continuously monitor our network and content delivery environment

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
  • Demonstrate experience with internet protocols, (DNS, HTTP, TCP, TLS) and scripting languages,(Python, Perl, shell).
  • Have experience working with and analyzing complex systems in UNIX/Linux distributed production environments
  • Have familiarity with streaming technologies such as Encoding, Video Players, Media Security, Streaming Protocols, and Media Workflows
  • Demonstrate analytical and quantitative capabilities with an ability to provide data-backed analysis
  • Have excellent communication skills, able to articulate technical information in a clear and easy to understand manner
  • Be a self starter, proactively taking the initiative to solving problems and a drive to improve results

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $149,122 - $238,744/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
