The Beverly YMCA is seeking Summer Literacy Paraprofessional Aides to support the five-week summer program. In this role, you will help provide supervision and educational support for children and youth creating a quality learning experience that focuses on building achievement in literacy and social skills. In this role, our paraprofessionals and teachers work together to lead classroom management and address behavioral needs as necessary. As part of our summer literacy program, you will provide consistency in supervision and communication throughout the program day, as well as apply child growth and development principles in working with participants through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth. This role is aimed at ensuring that children do not fall behind their peers during the summer break and are well-positioned to continue to advance their learning into the school year.

This is a seasonal role and requires availability during the entire summer program, July 8th - August 9th from 8am - 12pm Monday - Friday. Summer Literacy staff must also attend required training before the start of programming, dates to be determined.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with children of diverse populations in a developmental setting preferred
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
