Job Description

UH: TPN/VAD (Full-Time, Day Shift)-

The Dietitian Specialist 1-TPN/VAD in the Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) and Vascular Access Device (VAD) area completes consults/assessments and reassessments for patients receiving TPN and/or Enteral Nutrition (EN) for in-patients or out-patients at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Performs nutrition assessments and reassessments according to scheduled timeframes, implementing appropriate interventions to improve the nutritional outcome of patients. Conducts Performance Improvement (PI) reviews to assure improved patient outcomes. Participates in patient care rounds, serve as a preceptor to dietetic and medical students, provides in-services and lectures to members of the healthcare team. Works shift as assigned by the supervisor. Performs other duties as needed.



Graduate of accredited school with Bachelor or Master's degree in nutrition related fields including completion of clinical practicum experience. Certification from Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD) required. Board Certification as a Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) within two years of hire date.

Entry level knowledge of clinical nutrition in area of specialty. Handling/gripping, speed movements, fine dexterity, writing and speaking skills necessary for the job. Able to operate calculator, computer, pager, copy machine and telephone. Must be able to communicate effectively with others, collaborating and accepting direction, able to work calmly and courteously under pressure, display a positive and professional demeanor to patients, visitors, and co-workers, able to be consistent in enforcing Medical Center policies. Ability to speak English fluently. Ability to speak Spanish desirable. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, making judgments, make and follow through on plans, reasoning and problem solving skills, mathematical skills, must be able to organize and prioritize workload, detail oriented.
