We are actively hiring Senior Staff or Professional Coastal or Environmental Engineers to join our growing sediment & waterfront practice in the United States. The successful candidates will ideally be based near one of our offices in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey or Pennsylvania, however for established consultants we are also able to consider remote working. You will apply engineering skills to projects involving investigations, design, and construction support for coastal resiliency projects and the remediation of sediment sites throughout the United States, while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coastal Engineering

    Design and implement coastal protection and stabilization projects.
  • Conduct coastal vulnerability assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze wave, tide, and current data to inform coastal infrastructure design.
  • Provide expertise in beach nourishment and erosion control methods.
  • Design and oversee the construction of coastal structures such as breakwaters and seawalls.
  • Collaborate with environmental agencies to ensure compliance with coastal regulations.

Remediation Design

  • Develop innovative and sustainable solutions for sediment remediation projects.
  • Conduct site assessments and characterize contaminated sediments for remediation planning.
  • Design and implement sediment containment and treatment systems.
  • Collaborate with environmental scientists to develop comprehensive remediation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate remediation technologies based on site-specific conditions.

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment:

  • Implement monitoring programs to assess the effectiveness of remediation efforts.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments for coastal and waterfront projects.
  • Analyze water and sediment quality data to inform project design and optimization.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in environmental monitoring.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, water resources, coastal or environmental engineering, or a related field of study. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred but not essential)
  • Professional registration (i.e., E.I.T. or P.E.) (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Ability to digest and summarize technical language from white papers, reports or regulatory documents. (required)
  • Technical experience in engineering, geology, geotechnical, environmental, or related disciplines. (preferred)
  • Previous field experience, for example coastal vulnerability assessments, sediment sampling, porewater sampling, observation of well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and/or other field techniques. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation. (valuable)
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, and related software; GIS. (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
