Job Description
Intern - R&D

Job Functions:

This position is a 6-month internship beginning in July, 2023.
  1. Support the Calibration Engineers in coordinating, preparing, and performing combustion engine development, testing, and engineering support work in an engine dynamometer test cell and if necessary, in the field.
  2. Learn about engine development and engine calibration challenges and how to overcome them
  3. Provide engineering support for our production test cells
  4. Handle moderately difficult problems
  5. Perform special projects and tasks as required
  6. Keep management informed on current workload, issues, and future assignments
  7. Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures, and rules governing professional staff behavior
  8. Adhere to company and professional ethics governing the handling of confidential information and the observation of confidentiality
  9. Maintain professional relationships with company employees, clients, and customers, both internal and external
  10. Represent the company professionally in all interactions both internally and externally
  11. Follow guidance of experienced engineers and learn from them
  12. Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Enrolled in an accredited college/university currently pursuing a master's degree in automotive engineering
  2. An outstanding academic performer 3.0 / 4.0 GPA or equivalent academic requirement
  3. Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  4. Good oral and written communication skills
  5. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others
  6. Good organizational, planning and follow-up skills
  7. Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite

Preferred:
  1. Passion for combustion engine testing, optimization, and development
  2. Introduction to Thermal Fluid Sciences courses completed
  3. Combustion engine lectures or engine lab experience in progress or completed
  4. Know-How of combustion engine measurement technology

  1. 50% cubical workplace (project planning and management, data analysis, coordination of assignment, etc.)
  2. 50% test cell (on-site company owned test cell, test cell at a third-party provider, on-site production test cells, field test site, etc.)
