2022 Summer Intern - Cyber Security Analyst

Cox Automotive, a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises, is seeking a Cyber Security Intern to join our Enterprise Risk & Security team. The Cyber Security Intern is responsible for assisting with security monitoring and incident management for internal and external threats. The Cyber Security Intern helps performs advanced threat analysis, collaborates with internal IT teams and MSSP for security monitoring response, improves correlation and monitoring of security events, and assists on security monitoring projects.

As a Cyber Security intern, you would need to stay up-to-date on the latest threats and emerging security trends in a fast and efficient way to keep the enterprise environment protected. You would also have the responsibility of Service Desk and Incident Management by assisting in the investigation and resolution of security issues.

  • Security, Incident, and Event Management (SIEM)
  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
  • Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDS/IPS)
  • Event Detection and Response (EDR)
  • Work with internal IT teams and external MSSPs for security monitoring of IDS, SIEM, DLP, AV, and Endpoint Security technologies.
  • Assist on security event correlation, triage, and analysis.
  • Apply Security Threat Intelligence to respond appropriately to security events.
  • Recognize when a network/system has been compromised from and internal or external threat actor.
  • Assist on projects to improve security monitoring and response capabilities.
  • Develop metrics for reporting and tracking of incidents.
  • Maintain the security monitoring operational guidelines/process diagrams and standards for security.
Qualifications:
  • Working towards/has a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science/Cybersecurity/Information Security degree or related field or equivalent combination of industry experience
  • Working knowledge of Information Security, Network Security, and Security Monitoring and Incident Response processes
  • Experience with a programming language such as Python, Java, or Visual Basic
  • Ability to synthesize information quickly at a high level and makes decisions in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to pay strong attention to detail, and collaborate and function effectively in a team environment and independently on complex problems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, curiosity, and hunger to learn new technologies
  • Security+, CISA, CISSP, CISM, or CIA certification(s)
  • Network / Development/ System Administration experience / background
  • Working Knowledge of leading industry Security tools
